Greater Is He Who Is In You

Word of the Day
Beloved, you are never separated from Me. In order for separation to happen, I would have to leave…to come and go depending on your actions or attitudes. I would have to be only a fair-weather friend. That would not be much to die for now would it? Where would your security be if I were only a fair-weather friend? How could I set you in a large place or be your strong tower (2 Samuel 22:20)? I am unchanging, immovable and invincible to the very end (Isaiah 41:4).

Today at this moment in time I am your sure foundation, your immovable rock…your water in the desert…your vision at noon day when the sun of life is at its zenith to scorch you…and what do I say you are (John 16:33)? You are as I am in this world. You have already overcome for I, The Overcomer dwell in you.

Overcoming is not something you do. It is who you are. You are an overcomer and you are overcoming. Know this; the “ing” means to be in a constant state of being of whatever word it is modifying. Isn’t it a beautiful thought…a beautiful truth…to always overcome in every circumstance from moment to moment without fear of reprisal should you struggle to do so? Beloved, you have overcome. You are overcoming and will continue to do so.

Therefore, come My overcomer and let us multiply My enduring love and mercy to a world in need.

Little children, you are of God [you belong to Him] and have [already] defeated and overcome them [the agents of the antichrist], because He Who lives in you is greater (mightier) than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.] (John 16:33)

Prayer
Lord I praise You and give honor to Your name. I praise You, for you are not a fair-weather friend. If it were so, I would be hopeless and helpless indeed. I would be completely lost without You for You are my strong tower…my everlasting rock.

Your faithfulness and joy gives me strength in the midst of these trying times. I am comforted knowing You never leave me nor forsake me. As things in the world continue to change, with no security in sight, I know I can still trust in You.

Though the world is in chaos, You are not affected, for You are never changing, the same yesterday, today and forever. In the storms of life, I draw comfort knowing You are my immovable rock…my sure foundation in whom I trust. I am ever grateful that I do not stand on sinking sand.

Teach me to be ever thankful for all You have revealed to me…for revealing to me how I am as You are in this world; an overcomer. I am an overcomer because You, the Overcomer, live in me.

How I love the reality of being an overcomer is not something I do. Being an overcomer is who I truly am. I choose to believe and when I do the revelation of the overcomer sets me free from the struggle of trying to do something or be something which is already done in and through Christ. Yes, I am free from the fear of struggling to try and accomplish things instead of just being who You have created me to be. The new creation in Christ You have made me is more than an overcomer. Therefore, I am now able to go out into the world free from fear and show others Your enduring love. I am free. Amen

Reflect and Journal

  1. Have you ever had a fair-weather friend? Do you think of God as fair-weather when you cannot feel His Presence?
  2. What does the word overcomer mean to you?
  3. Do you see yourself as an overcomer even if you are weak in certain areas?
  4. Write a description of what an overcomer means to you and how you see yourself in this area. What is the difference in your own life of trying to be an overcomer verses just being one?
